Style Girlfriend is all about providing the female perspective on men’s style.
I’ve loved men’s fashion ever since the second grade, when my older brother handed down his beloved pullover Milwaukee Bucks Starter jacket. I was seven and couldn’t name a single player on the team, but I adored that coat and wore it every day, stopping only when I found myself pairing it with shorts and sandals in June.
Since then, I’ve gone from wearing guys’ clothing to helping guys pick the clothes out on their own.
In 2009, I started a weekly column for a friend’s custom suit business where I dispensed sartorial advice to guys who want to look good, but don’t want to think too much about what they’re wearing. The column quickly gained a following among this group, as well as with their girlfriends and wives.
In August of 2010, McClatchy-Tribune took notice, and the column was picked up for national syndication. Since then, Style Girlfriend has appeared regularly in newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald and Charlotte Observer.
In January 2011, stylegirlfriend.com went live. The site is a collection of those articles, and daily content all about men’s style. From the start, my goal was to help make getting dressed easier for guys, and that’s how the site should be used – as a resource in building a grown man’s wardrobe to be proud of. I want to provide shortcuts to a closet full of clothes that the lady in your life will like too.
